As a clinician, you probably chose this field because you wanted to support people in navigating challenges and finding personal growth. But many mental health care providers end up spending almost as much time on billing, insurance, and other documentation as you do in sessions with clients.

That’s where Alma can help.

Alma supports clinicians in building rewarding private practices—with simplified insurance credentialing in under 45 days, enhanced reimbursement rates, and guaranteed two-week payback.

Plus, a free profile in their searchable, filterable directory—making it easy for clients who are the right fit for your practice to find you.

Keep track of your work

One of the biggest lessons that Joe is learning from the process of building Great Lakes Online Counseling is the importance of tracking your work and decisions.

This is how it goes when you start a private practice. Even for a consultant like myself, there [are] things that have shifted or changed as … you’re doing it … So keep track of what you’re doing with that. (Joe Sanok)

Whether you are keeping tabs on business processes or onboarding staff or clinicians, make sure you document your process because it will save you a lot of time and effort down the line.

Putting together a coworking space

Joe and Jen have decided to open a coworking space in Grand Rapids for the new clinician to use to see clients.

Jen gave Joe three to four options for him to choose from, and once Joe decides, Jen can set that up for Rachel, the new clinician.

Let’s do the second [option] … That’s right downtown in Grand Rapids … And I love going to Grand Rapids, so I’ll have to do some networking down there! (Joe Sanok)

Creating content for the website

Next on the list is Joe and Jen discussing blog posts as content for the Great Lakes Online Counseling website.

In order to create aligned content that speaks to the practice’s ideal clients, Jen is going to use chapters from Joe’s book Dating After Betrayal to write and edit blogs for the website.

We can once a week drop those blog posts [on the website] to start to build some SEO pretty easily, and then we’ll want to make sure we have internal links to each of those blog posts, and go from there. (Joe Sanok)

These blogs are great for both content for the clients, and SEO for the website.
