Ask The Expert:Identity-Based Socialization with Guest Kara Loewentheil
About the event
Join Kara and Sara as they discuss Identity Based Socialization and how it impacts people’s brains.
Society teaches us to think about ourselves in specific ways based on our various identities. And those messages lodge deep in our minds, impacting everything about our lives. Now there’s a way to learn more about how identity-based socialization – especially gender-based socialization – impacts your clients.
Meet Kara:
Kara Loewentheil, author of the New York Times Bestseller “Take Back Your Brain: How a Sexist Society Gets in Your Head – and How to Get It Out” has created a free guide to help therapists start bringing a deeper understanding of socialization into their work. In addition to being an author, Kara is host of the top-ranked podcast UnF*ck Your Brain: Feminist Self-Help for Everyone and founder of The School of New Feminist Thought. She has spoken everywhere from Google to white-shoe law firms, and her work was part of a peer-reviewed double-blind study published in JAMA Network Open that found the coaching interventions studied to be more effective than almost any other measures at improving burnout, self-compassion, and imposter syndrome.
