About this Session:Let’s Talk About Sex!
Sexuality is at the core of our personhood so when our sexuality is shamed or tampered with as a child or young person it can create a shame-based sense of self and a shame-based sexuality. Shame is at the core of most sexual dysfunction and sexual shame is at the core of sex addiction. Eliminating shame and identifying a preferred life is key to vitality and healthy sexuality. Explicit communication between sexual partners assists in creating an interdependent, cohesive relationship that opens the door to eroticism. Honest, crucial conversations requires discipline, stretching into discomfort, entering a nonjudgmental state, and talking consciously with your partner about sex while managing your anxiety. Explicit talks may bring up resistance, but a realistic view of mature, intimate sex allows for sexual desire to consistently change, requiring adaptation throughout the lifespan.
